The following was copied from an email that was read aloud in our life group.
"A Muslim man in Egypt killed his wife and then buried her with their infant baby and 8-year-old daughter. The girls were buried alive! He then reported to the police that an uncle killed the kids.15 days later, another family member died. When they went to bury him, they found the 2 little girls under the sand- ALIVE! 15 days later!!!The country is outraged over the incident, and the man will be executed. The older girl was asked how she had survived. “A man wearing shiny white clothes, with bleeding wounds in his hands, came every day to feed us. He woke up my mom so she could nurse my sister,” she said. She was interviewed on Egyptian national TV, by a veiled Muslim woman new anchor. She said on public TV, “This was none other than Jesus, because nobody else does things like this.”Muslims believe Isa (Egyptian word for Jesus) would do this, but the wounds mean He really was crucified, and it’s clear also that He is alive! But, it’s also clear that the child could not make up a story like this, and there is no way these children could have survived without a true miracle.Muslim leaders are going to have a hard time to figure out what to do with this, and the popularity of the Passion movie doesn’t help! With Egypt at the center of the media and education in the Middle East, you can be sure this story will spread. Christ is still turning the world upside down!"
If this is true, what an amazing testimony it is for all of us--both Christians and unbelievers. But I do have some questions about it.When I googled this story (titled Miracle in Egypt) I found many blog posts commenting on the lack of evidence of the story. I couldn't find the original article on an Egyptian newspaper too. (?) The second question I have does not pertain to the truth of the story. I want to question about the mother. According to the email, Jesus woke up the mom so that she could nurse the infant. But then only the 2 girls were found alive! (?)There is also another story similar to this called Miracle in Egypt too. It is almost the same, except that the 8-year-old girl is replaced by a boy and his infant sister. It's too similar... (?)
Here's the story from http://guirguis.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/058-A_Miracle_In_Egypt
"A miracle happened in Egypt, which was broadcasted in the media, including a program called (warra2 el ahdaath = behind the events). This was involving a Muslim family who had a motor vehicle accident in which both parents died and left behind an infant girl and a young boy who were rescued from the wreck and given to their uncle who, in order to get the inheritance of his dead brother, buried both kids alive together with their passed parents. After few days have passed, the kids were found alive. During the investigation they asked the boy, "how could you survive and who was feeding you all this time?". The boy answered, "there was a man with holes in his hands and feet who was feeding me and making my mom get up to nurse my little sister, and after nursing her, my mom would lay down again". Then the program announcer replied, "This man is 'saeedna Aisa' (Jesus Christ)"."
Strange isn't it?
I just got this email and I was wondering as well before I share it I should google it and I didn't find anything on any newspaper
